I’m sure everyone was wondering what the final name of Windows 7 would be. I guess, Microsoft decided to keep things simple and name it Windows 7. I’m pretty excited about the next version of Windows. The big draw for me is the arrival multi-touch capabilities — first demonstrated in Surface — on the desktop. I’m flying to LA for PDC in a little over a week and can’t wait to get my grubby mitts on it. I love my tablet, but would go apes over what multitouch can offer. Hopefully they’ll have a touch peripheral that allows current hardware to take advantage of this…(in my ultimate of fantasies, Microsoft will be handing them out at PDC).
There’s a lot of other stuff to look forward to…updated bits for VS 2010 (the IDE formerly known as Rosario), key notes from the big wigs at Microsoft and a ton of (currently) blank session slots. Can’t wait to see what they’re filled in with. I’m going to be submitting a video for the PDC show off event. (Today’s the deadline). While I’m at it, I might as well share it with you guys. Once it finishes uploading to my Silverlight Streaming account, I’ll post it here (for those who have seen it all ready…this time it has audio!)
Exciting times we live in!
